Oprah Winfrey Pours Out Her Emotions as She Hits 60

Image
TV personality Oprah Winfrey turned 60 yesterday, and to celebrate, she poured her emotions and thoughts into a very heartfelt open letter. Read letter below; “Sixty. I’m turning 60! I’m so glad I’ve lived long enough to say those words and celebrate their meaning. I’m turning 60. I’m alive. Healthy. Strong. “I’m turning 60, and—please don’t take offense—I no longer have to be concerned about what anyone thinks of me! (You know, the old Am I doing it right? Am I saying it right? Am I being what or who I’m “supposed” to be?) I’m turning 60, and I’ve earned the right to be just as I am. I’m more secure in being myself than I’ve ever been. “I am in awe of the way my journey here on earth continues to unfold. My life has been marked by miracles for as long as I can recall — and even before. (My entire existence is the result of a onetime frolic under an oak tree.) My early days speaking in a Mississippi Methodist church — Baptist leanings, shoutin’, and Holy Ghost included — prepared

Policeman sentenced to death by hanging for killing 20yr old man

Image
Justice has finally come the way of the family of slain Emmanuel Victor (pictured above), a 20 year old young man who was killed in front of his mother by a trigger-happy Policeman, Mathew Egheghe, two years ago in Yenogoa, Bayelsa state. Victor was shot dead after he confronted a group of policemen who were trying to extort money from motorists as he was coming back from church. Angered by his effrontery to question their action, Policeman Egheghe moved close to Victor and shot him at close range. Narrating what happened, Victor's mother Grace, who witnessed the incident said: "They shot my son brutally. As he fell while they were shooting him, the tallest of them still continued shooting him on the ground". She said she was harassed and stopped from going close to her dying son even as he lay gasping for life in the pool of his own blood. Delivering his judgement on the case, Justice Lucky Boufili said that such a cruel act was only punishable by the ma

University Introduces A Course On Beyonce!

Image
Rutgers University is offering a course on Beyoncé at the school’s Department of Women’s and Gender Studies. The class, which is called “Feminist Perspectives: Politicizing Beyoncé,” is being offered during the Spring semester at the college. Queen Bey 101 is taught by PhD candidate Kevin Allred, who explained to the Rutgers Today newspaper exactly what students can expect from the class. “This isn’t a course about Beyoncé’s political engagement or how many times she performed during President Obama’s inauguration weekend,” he said. “Rather, the performer’s music and career are used as lenses to explore American race, gender and sexual politics.” Allred pairs the lesson plans with the “Drunk in Love” songstress’ music videos and lyrics—he’s got plenty of material to choose from now! But it’s not all Bey all the time. He also includes writing from artists and pioneers in the black feminist movement like Sojourner Truth and Alice Walker. And according to Allred, Beyoncé’s clas

‘He’s Such A Bad Influence’—Americans Sign Petition To Get Justin Bieber Deported

Image
A petition urging President Obama to deport Canadian pop star-turned-bad-boy Justin Bieber had racked up more than 70,000 signatures yesterday. Today it surpassed the 100,000 mark, which means the White House is required to issue an official response. “We would like to see the dangerous, reckless, destructive, and drug abusing, Justin Bieber deported and his green card revoked,” the petition says. “He is not only threatening the safety of our people but he is also a terrible influence on our nation’s youth. We the people would like to remove Justin Bieber from our society.” The singer was arrested last week on various charges including driving under the influence, which was apparently the straw that broke the outraged, Bieber-hating camel’s back. Justin Bieber’s trouble with the law spread to a second country Wednesday when the pop star surrendered to police in Canada charging him with assault shortly after pleading not guilty in a separate drag racing incident in Miami.

Love is such a precious gift from God and you haven't truly lived until you have loved. I am one lucky girl, God gave me my best friend, my partner, the "yang" to my YIN, and my Fav person in the world. We are soooooooo different but somehow our differences are so little in comparison to the acceptance we have of each other. This guy accepts me for who I am. He understands and listens to me. Never one to judge, a gentle heart and after all is said and done, thru the years and thru everything we have been thru, I will do it all again with you. I can confidently say I love you more than I did yesterday and our journey, our experiences what we have learnt was all for a time as this. Sometimes you might be what that person needs to see life differently, I am loving every minute of this new journe
