Dangote Yet To Redeem One Million Naira Super Eagles Pledge.

There was much joy in the land on February 10, 2013, when the Super Eagles won for Nigeria her 3rd Africa Cup of Nations Championship with a 1–0 victory over Burkina Faso in the final. As expected, gifts and pledges poured in from different directions for the gallant soccer team.

Now over a year, the Super Eagles players and officials are reminding Africa's richest man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote of the$1 million pledge he made to the team shortly after winning the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa. "We understand the busy schedule of Alhaji Dangote, we are just asking his aides to help remind him of the promise to us," stand-in captain of the team, Vincent Enyeama pleaded at the weekend.

Also yet to redeem his pledge to the team is Chief Tony Elumelu who promised the team $500,000 after the victory at AFCON 2013. "It's just a reminder to patriots who are very busy and may not have been prompted after they made their pledges, because the players are determined to bring more honours to fatherland at the forthcoming World Cup", he declared.

On the other hand, Enyeama has been full of praises for Cross River State government, particularly Governor Liyel Imoke, for redeeming his promise to give members of the victorious Super Eagles a plot of land each in the state capital, Calabar.

Last week, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Alhaji Aminu Maigari, delivered the land papers fresh from Government House in Calabar, to team administrator, Dayo Enebi Achor, who has since commenced distribution to all the players and officials. "We want to thank Governor Imoke and the good people of Cross River State for redeeming his pledge to us as a team, we promise that we will not disappoint him anytime we return to Calabar to play any game," Enyeama said.
